A clear favourite has emerged to succeed Ange Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest head coach.
Postecoglou was relieved of his duties as Forest boss just minutes after the side’s 3-0 defeat against Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
Second-half strikes from Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto and Reece James sealed Ange’s fate on a torrid afternoon for Forest.
The Australian leaves having failed to win any of his eight games in charge and now boasts the unwanted title of sporting the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history after just 40 days in charge of the East Midlands outfit.

The club confirmed the news with a statement to X shortly after the Chelsea match.
"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” read the statement.
"The Club will make no further comment at this time."

So, with a Europa League clash against Porto to come in just five days, who will take on the task of replacing Postecoglou?
Several names have been put forward by bookmaker Betfair, with Fulham boss Marco Silva currently returning odds of 4/1, while Benfica head coach Jose Mourinho is at 12/1 despite recently undertaking his role at the Lisbon club.
Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, who is currently without a job, is also among the contenders, returning odds of 14/1.
However, another currently unemployed manager is the outright favourite to take up the now-vacant role.

Former Everton, Burnley and Watford manager Sean Dyche returns odds of 4/5, having been sacked as Toffees boss at the start of 2025.

As reported by The Telegraph, Dyche lives in the city and came through the ranks under iconic Forest boss Brian Clough.
Both of Dyche’s assistant coaches, Ian Woan and Steve Stone, also represented the club during their playing careers.
Sean Dyche's stance on Premier League return
So, given that he has now had an eight-month break from the game, what has Dyche said about returning to management?

Speaking on 'Call Yourself a Fan?' three weeks ago, Dyche said: "Once you’re in it, you immerse yourself in it, but when you get a break from it, it’s time to just step back and enjoy life a little bit."
When asked about a potential return to dugout he added: "The strange thing in football management is that the job comes and gets you, you don’t ring up clubs and say ‘Oh, any danger?’.
“So, if the timing is right and they want you to come do it, then we interview and see if we get it.
“At the minute, I'm quite enjoying watching what's going on rather than being immersed in it.”
