Troy Deeney has claimed that Nottingham Forest club captain Ryan Yates may have found out Ange Postecoglou had been sacked in an utterly bizarre way.
Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest after the East Midlands side’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
His dismissal came after just eight matches with the Australian having failed to guide Forest to a single win, with his 39-day tenure also the shortest of any permanent manager in Premier League history.
It has since emerged that former Everton, Burnley, and Watford head coach Sean Dyche is close to completing an agreement to become the side’s new boss.

Dyche is set to become the club’s third manager of the 2025/26 season with Nuno Espirito Santo also being sacked in September, just three games into the campaign.
And given the bizarre nature of Postecoglou’s sacking, there have since been several stories about the moments surrounding his dismissal.

Yates, who didn’t play against Chelsea, had to explain how he “did some running” on the pitch after the game, only to come back in and learn of the news just minutes after full time.

Now, former Premier League striker Deeney has suggested that Yates may have even overheard the news on talkSPORT before being told by the club.
Deeney claimed that Yates may have heard presenter Sam Matterface revealing the news of Ange’s departure.
"As the captain, you know certain responsibilities fall on your shoulders,” Deeney told Max Rushden and Andy Jacobs on Monday.
"The really weird thing about it is while we were finishing off the show, he was actually out running.

"He'd literally come out and started running, as if he didn't know anything had happened and he was just like, 'Right, let's get the work done because the game's on Thursday, against Porto'.

"So, by all accounts, when he's ran back in, he's overheard Sam breaking the news, so he's actually finding out there and then that this has happened.”
Forest will return to action with a Europa League clash against Porto at the City Ground on Thursday.

The two-time European champions are currently 18th in the Premier League on just five points, as well as sitting in 25th place in the 36-team Europa League league phase after two matches.
As for Ange, he has already been linked with a potential return to his former club, Celtic, as pressure mounts on current Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.
