Jadon Sancho's staggering career decline laid bare as two Premier League clubs make approach

Jadon Sancho may be given another Premier League lifeline despite a shocking career decline that saw him go from a Manchester United star to a struggling free agent.

When Jadon Sancho arrived as Manchester United's big summer signing in a £73million move back in 2021, nobody could have expected how things would end up playing out.

Five years later, the Englishman is now a free agent and is widely regarded as one of the most signings of all-time, but two Premier League may yet take a punt on the former United player.

Two Premier League clubs 'enter talks' for Jadon Sancho move

Given the fact that he's still a free agent, Sancho is able to complete a move to a Premier League club, or any other club for that matter, despite the fact that the transfer window closed a week ago.

The 26-year-old has since been linked with several clubs across the world, with some reports suggesting that he had already agreed a deal to join Brazilian club Palmeiras.

Perhaps the most daring suggestion came from Dubai side Arabian Falcons who hoped to pitch a move to the United Arab Emirates to Sancho.

But now, it appears Sancho could yet return to the Premier League, as TEAMtalk have reported that two English clubs have made fresh approaches for Sancho in recent days.

The report doesn't identify which clubs specifically are interested in Sancho, but confirms that at least two Premier League sides are in talks with the Englishman about a move.

So far in his career, Sancho has represented three different Premier League clubs, those being United, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

A return to United is obviously not going to happen, while moves to return to either of his other former English sides also seems to be unlikely.

Having spent last season on loan with Aston Villa, the midlands club would have had the chance to sign Sancho permanently at the end of the season, but ultimately decided against it.

Meanwhile Chelsea also aren't likely to be eager to bring Sancho back to Stamford Bridge following a lacklustre loan spell that saw just 14 goal contributions in 41 appearances.

Should he opt not to return to England, it is also believed that former club Borussia Dortmund remain keen on bringing Sancho back to Germany.

What went wrong for Sancho at Man United?

When he arrived at United with 114 goal contributions from 137 appearances for Dortmund and 22 England caps, the expectations on Sancho were as high as they could have been.

Instead, he managed just 18 contributions across 83 matches for United, spending a lot of his time at the club on loan elsewhere.

It's hard to say what exactly went wrong for the Englishman when he arrived in the Premier League, but his failure to find a regular place under four managers (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag) shows just how severely he fell out of favour at the club.

Without a doubt, the point of no return for the winger came after Ten Hag left him out of the matchday squad against Arsenal in September 2023.

The Dutch manager claimed that Sancho’s training performances were not up to standard, something that Sancho publicly disputed in a major fallout between the pair, claiming he had been made a “scapegoat”.

He never made another apperance for United after this fallout with Ten Hag, and it has no doubt had a major impact on his public perception from both fans and clubs.

Regardless, whatever happens next for Sancho and wherever he plays for he will no doubt attract plenty of attenion.
