Mikel Arteta thinks the title race between Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City will go down to the wire – and it would make for one of the greatest weekends in Premier League history.

All three teams have tough tests to pass as the title race comes to a close. Manchester City, who are looking to lift their fourth consecutive league trophy, have arguably the easiest run-in.

Their last eight games include Crystal Palace [A], Luton [H], Brighton [A], Nottingham Forest [A], Wolves [H], Fulham [A], West Ham [H] and a last day of the season trip to Tottenham.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will try and maintain their lead with positives results against Manchester United [A], Crystal Palace [H], Fulham [A], Everton [A], West Ham [A], Tottenham [H], Aston Villa [A] and Wolves [H]

So what about Arsenal? The Gunners have arguably the toughest run-in compared to their Premier League rivals, but Mikel Arteta was in positive spirits ahead of their trip to Brighton on Saturday.

In fact, despite upcoming games against Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United, he thinks the title will be decided on the final day of the 2023/24 season, on Sunday 19 May.

"This is the level and it’s been the level in this league for the past six or seven years," he said.

"The margins are so small, let’s see those numbers at the end of the last game and hopefully if those are maintained, I think we have a good chance.

"We’re still not at the top and we have to transform that into winning and winning and winning, and that’s the only way to have the chance in the last game of the season to do it."

He added: "I don’t know what is going to happen but it is very unlikely that everybody wins every game. You look back a what happened in previous seasons and it is very, very unlikely – but you don’t know.

"Let’s do everything we possibly can. Don’t leave anything left and play with the same enthusiasm and hunger and quality, and let’s see where it takes us."

Arteta's men will face Aston Villa [H], Wolves [A], Chelsea [H], Tottenham [A], Bournemouth [H], Manchester United [A] and a final day test against Everton at home.

Who do you think will come out on top? Let us know.
