Fans have been left shocked at a new report which details how much Premier League clubs charge for their most expensive adult season ticket.

Premier League ticket prices have steadily risen over recent years, with season tickets setting fans back a significant amount of money, especially if they want to sit in the more expensive areas of the ground.

In 2013 (via The Guardian), it was Arsenal that had the most expensive season ticket, standing at an eye-watering £1,995. Two other clubs - Tottenham and Chelsea - priced their most expensive ticket at over £1,000.

On the other end of the scale, Hull's most expensive ticket came in at £405. And the cheapest in the entire division belonged to Manchester City, who charged £299.

But things have changed since then, and in a new report by The Athletic, a total of 17 Premier League clubs increased their season ticket prices for the upcoming season.

And the most expensive ticket this time around has taken fans by surprise.

Most expensive Premier League season ticket revealed

To find the highest-priced Premier League season ticket, you have to go to Craven Cottage and Fulham.

The Cottagers charge a staggering £3,000 for their most expensive ticket, which applies to a new purchaser buying a ticket in a non-executive area of the stadium.

That applies to a Platinum area of the Riverside stand, with adult tickets for the other stands coming in between £455 and £985.

Tottenham, meanwhile, charge £2,025 for their priciest ticket, with Arsenal in third place at £1,783.50. That is, in fact, lower than their most expensive ticket in 2013 - but it is still a significant amount higher than 17 other clubs.

The most expensive ticket at Manchester United, meanwhile, comes in at £1,007, while £886 is Liverpool's figure. At the other end of the scale, the newly-promoted trio of Sheffield United (£528.50), Burnley (£500) and Luton (£500) are the lowest in the division.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have the most expensive cheapest ticket (£973.50), with Liverpool (fourth, £699), Manchester United (10th, £551), and West Ham (20th, £310) other notables.

Fans had their say on Fulham's pricing on Twitter. One said: "Fulham need to sort themselves out."

Another wrote: "Three grand for a season ticket? How the hell do they justify that?"

Commenting on prices as a whole, one fan claimed: "An absolute disgrace. No longer a 'working man's game'."

And a fourth said: "A sad, sad sight."
