Spooky Lionel Messi fan prediction from 2015 resurfaces ahead of Ballon d'Or ceremony, he was spot on

A fan's prediction about Lionel Messi came true seven years on.

A spooky Lionel Messi fan prediction ended up coming true seven years on.

Back in 2015, football fan Jose Miguel Polanco decided to make a huge forecast regarding Barcelona legend Messi.

Apparently having powers to see into the future, he took to X, formerly Twitter, to tell everyone that Messi would finally gets his hands on the World Cup in Qatar on December 18 2022.

He stated that the triumph would confirm Messi's place as the best player ever to play the game and was so confident that he told his followers to "check back" with him in seven years.

Jose wrote: "December 18, 2022. 34 year old Leo Messi will win the World Cup and become the greatest player of all times. Check back with me in 7 years."

The post is pinned on Jose's page and has a staggering 196,000 retweets and 349,000 likes.

The accuracy was unbelievably eery, as Messi of course went to lead Argentina to a first World Cup since 1986 thanks to a penalty shoot-out win over France at the Lusail Stadium.

Messi scored seven goals in the tournament, including twice in the final.

Jose was in Qatar for his sixth World Cup and one where Argentina were victorious.

The only slight error he made was the fact that Messi was actually 35 when he became a world champion and completed football and not 34.

The Inter Miami captain is now set to win the Ballon d'Or for the eighth time later this month and will set a unique record as no player playing outside of Europe has ever collected the gong.

However, after winning the World Cup, Messi isn't too fazed whether or not he wins the Ballon d'Or and is now "thinking about that award much less".

Messi said: "I have said it many times, the Ballon d'Or is very important due to the recognition at an individual level, but I never gave it importance.

"The most important thing for me was always the awards at the group level.

"I was lucky to have achieved everything in my career and after the World Cup, I'm thinking about that award much less, my biggest award was that and I'm disguising my moment."
