"He still wants to leave..." - Journalist claims Man Utd and Arsenal target is seeking a move this summer

"He still wants to leave..." - Journalist claims Man Utd and Arsenal target is seeking a move this summer

He could be a far cheaper alternative.

Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram is eager to leave this summer, according to reports.

Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United were said to be interested in Thuram last January, after Gladbach revealed £8 million would be enough to land the France international.

However, the German side were unable to cash in on their prized asset, and the 25-year-old is expected to leave as a free agent this summer, with an array of suitors ready to battle it out for his signature.

Thuram has managed an impressive 14 goals and four assists in 25 matches this season. Although his side are currently languishing in 10th place in the Bundesliga, some 15 points off the top four, as the striker eyes a 'bigger club' this summer.

Thuram to leave Gladbach as free agent

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that Thuram 'wants to leave Gladbach as a free agent in the summer'.

The report also states that Bayern Munich are not interested in signing him, despite losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer.

Whilst Chelsea have also withdrawn their interest, having already signed a flurry of attackers in January.

But if reports are to be believed, Thuram could be left to choose between Manchester United and Arsenal, with the World Cup star said to 'dream' of a move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is in the market for an elite level number nine this summer, and Thuram could prove a far cheaper alternative to the likes of Harry Kane, who is said to be the Red Devils' priority target.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to play hard ball during negotiations for the England skipper, with the club expected to demand in excess of £100million for Kane.

Elsewhere, Thuram could be tempted by a move to the Emirates, with the Premier League leaders a highly attractive prospect on current form.

Arsenal expressed an interest in Thuram during the winter transfer window, with Mikel Arteta seeking urgent cover for the injured Gabriel Jesus.

However, the Brazilian made his long awaited return during Arsenal's 3-0 win Fulham on Sunday. Whilst Folarin Balogun will come back from loan at the end of the season, providing Arteta with a wealth of options in attack.
