"Embarrassing..." - Man Utd boss Ten Hag slammed for one thing he did after beating Newcastle

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been labelled "embarrassing" for his post-match celebrations after the Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle.

Ten Hag picked up his first piece of silverware as United manager after a 2-0 win over Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday.

Goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford secured a deserved victory for the Red Devils to end their six-year wait for a major trophy.

Ten Hag will be hoping for more success this season, with his side still competing in the Europa League and FA Cup.

United also have an outside chance of winning the Premier League title, with the club currently third in the table – eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

United's players were understandably jubilant at full-time after beating Newcastle, while the usually straight-faced Ten Hag also took part in the celebrations.

He was spotted dancing with Antony and Lisandro Martinez on the pitch at Wembley, replicating the same moves they performed after winning silverware together at Ajax.

Morgan brands Ten Hag 'embarrassing'

Former United captain Roy Keane joked that Ten Hag should resign as manager after performing the dance.

But Arsenal fan Piers Morgan – who has previously criticised Ten Hag over his treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo – failed to see the funny side.

"Can't believe I'm watching a @ManUtd manager & players dancing with joy after winning the Carabao Cup... so embarrassing," tweeted Morgan.

It followed another tweet from Morgan, in which he fired back at a United supporter who had jokingly asked him if Arsenal were involved in the final.

"No mate, we're not in a 3rd tier competition final that nobody cares about. We're top of the Premier League," wrote Morgan.

Speaking after the final, Ten Hag confirmed his dance moves with Antony and Martinez stemmed from their time together at Ajax.

"We have a history, Licha (Martinez) and Antony, in Amsterdam and we did some dancing. I hope we can do even more in the future but therefore we have to invest and sacrifice every day to win trophies," said the Dutchman.

"You have to celebrate. It is not business as usual, it is not a common day. We won a trophy and this trophy means something.

"That is the feeling I get here and we have won something. We have to celebrate but after that point you have to keep going because this cup can be the inspiration to get even more."

When Sky Sports pundit Keane joked Ten Hag should resign, the United manager replied: "Never, I hope we can do it more!"
