Man Utd may already have their centre-back solution as approach made for Federico Dimarco

Man Utd may already have their centre-back solution as approach made for Federico Dimarco

They could already have their centre-back solution.

Manchester United may have already found their centre-back solution amid reports the club have made an approach for Federico Dimarco.

According to the Independent, United and Real Madrid have both spoken to Champions League finalists Inter about wing-back Dimarco.

The Italy international was one of the Champions League’s most impressive performers this season, and the Serie A side now face huge pressure to sell this summer.

As per the report, several clubs are interested in Dimarco, but United and Madrid have expressed the most concerted interest so far.

Both clubs are in part interested due to the possibility of signing a burgeoning talent for a relatively small fee, while the player’s versatility is also admired. Indeed, Inter's financial woes could allow a cheap deal for a highly regarded player.

Moreover, Real are said to have turned their attention to Dimarco with Eduardo Camavinga eager to fight for his place in midfield.

Man Utd centre-back options

According to the Independent United have been scouting a range of centre-backs.

While Napoli’s Kim Min-Jae is thought to be more valued by Bayern Munich, the Old Trafford club are said to be interested in Monaco's Axel Disasi, while Leeds United's Robin Koch is a surprise cut-price fall-back.

But there is the possibility that instead of signing a new centre-back, Shaw could play even more in that position.

The England international produced several authoritative performances at centre half last term, especially at the turn of the year.

Indeed, signing Dimarco to occupy the left flank would free up Shaw to play more in central defence.

United’s priority in the market is a striker, though the Old Trafford club are thought to have baulked at Tottenham’s Harry Kane valuation.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are said to have increased their asking price for Rasmus Hojlund from around £40million to almost £90million.
