Manchester United fans have given their verdicts on new signing Andrey Santos following the 5-0 preseason win over Rosenborg.

On Friday evening, Manchester United's pre-season continued as Michael Carrick's side took on Rosenborg in Norway.

In their first pre-season fixture, the Red Devils suffered a surprise loss to Wrexham, with a goal from midfielder Lewis O'Brien securing the victory.

However, United ensured they bounced back in their second pre-season fixture as they picked up a dominant 5-0 win over their Norweigan opponents, with goals from Shea Lacey, Joshua Zirkzee, Jacob Devaney, Harry Amass and Ethan Williams.

The match allowed United fans the chance to see plenty of their exciting youth prospects in action, with many of them impressing, including four of the goalscorers.

But the Rosenborg friendly also allowed United fans to get a closer look at new signing Santos, following his surprise move from Premier League rivals Chelsea earlier in the window,

Santos, who signed a deal to June 2031 following his £48million move, made his first appearance for his new club during the match against Wrexham and once again started against Rosenborg.

And it's safe to say that, despite many fans expressing disappointment at his signing, the 22-year-old has impressed in his appearances in red so far.

Posting on X, one fan wrote: "Andrey Santos is going to be a problem next season.. just look at those passes."

Another agreed, replying: "We have our midfield engine in him, I already love him."

With one fan claiming: "Santos was everywhere in that first half, constantly available, breaking lines, progressing the ball, and covering every blade of grass. Another exciting performance.

"United may have found something special here."

Although it remains to be seen how Santos will perform when facing Premier League opposition once again, his dominance against a team that are mid-season will be a major confidence boost both to him and fans.

Manchester United target £100m superstar in midfield rebuild

Santos joined United as the first of several new midfielders expected to arrive at Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes in August.

Just days after confirming Santos had joined the club, United completed another midfield signing, bringing Youri Tielemans to the club from Aston Villa after triggering the 29-year-old's release clause of £35m.

But United aren't going to stop there, with at least one other blockbuster midfield signing believed to be in the works behind the scenes at United.

Several big names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with the likes of Manu Kone, Carlos Baleba and most recently Alex Scott all linked.

However, it is currently believed that Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni is seen as an ideal target at United, with the 26-year-old said to be considering the move.

Earlier in the summer it was reported that, amid interest from several Premier League sides, the Frenchman had signed a new contract ahead of his current deal expiring in 2028.

But, the club is yet to announce this contract extension and is now reportedly considering letting Tchouameni go this summer should a deal for long-term target Rodri become possible.

If this is the case, then United will almost certainly launch a move for the Real Madrid star, who will likely cost over £100m given his talent.
