Man Utd players left gobsmacked by Benjamin Sesko's body transformation after returning to training

The Slovenian looks completely different, having not played a competitive match since United's victory over Liverpool in May.

Benjamin Sesko’s new-look physique has got fans talking after the Slovenian returned to Manchester United training.

Sesko will be hoping to build on a respectable return of 12 strikes in 32 appearances following his move from RB Leipzig last summer.

Despite a tough start to life at Old Trafford, the Slovenia international progressed during the 2025/26 campaign, with Michael Carrick’s appointment acting as a catalyst for his success during the second half of the season, as United finished third in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old will likely be afforded more game time this season, given United are competing on four fronts: the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Sesko’s 2025/26 campaign ended prematurely after he sustained a shin injury against Liverpool in May, which resulted in the forward missing the final three games of the season.

And, based on a recent Instagram post, it appears he’s spent much of his summer in the weight room, judging by his noticeably more muscular physique.

On Thursday (July 23), Sesko posted photographs of himself in training wearing a vest that showed off his muscular upper body, prompting a reaction from fans and his United team-mates.

Diogo Dalot commented: “@schwarzenegger you’re his inspiration 💪🏻❤️ my brate is stronnnng", while Bruno Fernandes added: “Brateeee 💪🏼”

Brate is a Slavic term that translates to "brother" or "bro".

Meanwhile, fans also weighed in. One wrote: “Is it just me, or does Sesko look as if he has beefed up a bit?”

Another added: “In case you’re confused, that’s not Captain America, that’s my striker, Sesko. Broo, my striker is about to start bullying defenders. 21 is coming home, guys.”

A third claimed: “Benjamin Sesko looks in crazy shape, or is it just me?!”

While a fourth commented: “Is the formula at Carrington just to bulk up players when they hit form? Sesko, I’m sorry for what is going to happen to you.”

As a fifth wrote: “It seems Sesko has decided not to let defenders bully him this season…”

United’s pre-season continues when they face Rosenborg on July 24 before clashes against Atletico Madrid (August 1), Paris Saint-Germain (August 8), Leeds United (August 12) and AC Milan (August 15).

Sesko is currently working towards full fitness and has not travelled to Norway for his side’s pre-season clash against Rosenborg.

United start their Premier League campaign with a trip to Hull City on August 22.

Who is in Man Utd’s squad for the Rosenborg friendly?

Goalkeepers: Tom Heaton, Dermot Mee, Radek Vitek.

Defenders: Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Jacob Devaney, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Ayden Heaven, Jaydan Kamason, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro.

Midfielders: Toby Collyer, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Dan Gore, Mason Mount, Andrey Santos, Jim Thwaites.

Forwards: JJ Gabriel, Shea Lacey, Bryan Mbeumo, Chido Obi, Joshua Zirkzee, Ethan Williams.
