Malik Scott revealed what really happened when he met Jamie Carragher.

Earlier this season, Carragher caused controversy when he made an off-hand remark, joking that presenter Kate Abdo was “not loyal” to her boyfriend, Scott, on CBS Sports.

Scott, who currently trains heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder, subsequently hit back branding the Liverpool icon “obnoxious” and threatening to “show up in a physical manner”, during an interview with Lord Ping.

However, the 43-year-old has since softened his stance, claiming that he has admiration for Carragher.

Speaking to Casino Online In, Scott said: “Jamie had an off moment and said something he shouldn’t have said – how many times in life have we all done that? You chop it up and apologise like men, which he did, and life goes on.

“I respect anyone who has a mishap and is man enough to apologise to the person and the person’s partner. I felt no ill feelings when we met.

“The thing that Jamie said, Kate was hurt, but they all made up and handled it collectively at the time. I said my piece on it, but the real thing is, we all got together and looked into each other’s eyes and had great food and great conversations.

“I never had a strong opinion about Jamie Carragher, only about the things that he said, but meeting him, I really enjoyed the man’s company. I have the utmost respect for him, as well as the rest of the panel.

“It was a good thing that I spoke up for my partner, I was standing up for the person I love.

“But I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jamie, Micah and Thierry. I love them to death and it was great to go over there and shake their hands.

“We had lunch and laughed. Thierry and I shared tips on film study. It was very intriguing and refreshing to have a legend like him break down the details of his football world.

“Even Jamie, there’s something I admire about him, he was a great player in his time, he’s doing a great job on television and he’s always smiling. And Micah is the humour source of their show, they’re the best panel.”
