Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is considering including Tyler Morton in his plans for next season, and not all Reds fans are happy with the news.

The 20-year-old midfielder is viewed as one of the most talented young players at the club and has been tipped for a bright future on Merseyside.

He first broke into Liverpool's senior team in 2021, coming on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup match against Norwich.

Morton would go on to feature in the Premier League and Champions League later on in the campaign, eventually making nine senior appearances in all competitions.

Klopp described Morton as "incredible" in the summer break but allowed the midfielder to join Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the 2022-23 campaign to continue his development.

He has gone on to make 40 appearances for the Lancashire club, helping them to challenge for promotion this season.

Jon Dahl Tomasson's side are currently fifth in the Championship and also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Athletic's James Pearce says Morton is on Klopp's radar and could force his way into the German's plans for next season.

"The feedback from Blackburn to Liverpool has been really positive," wrote Pearce.

"It's been a great loan spell in terms of aiding his development. I believe the plan is for Morton to come back and start pre-season at Liverpool and then it's down to him to prove he should be part of Klopp's plans for 2023-24."

Liverpool fans frustrated with Morton news

There has been a mixed reaction to the news on social media, with some Liverpool supporters unhappy with what they perceive to be a lack of ambition from the club in the transfer market.

It comes after The Athletic claimed that Liverpool are 'increasingly unlikely' to sign No 1 midfield target Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Liverpool are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara struggling for form this season and Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to leave on free transfers this summer.

Morton has, unfortunately, become the target of their frustrations, with one fan writing on Twitter: "The Bellingham alternative, it's happening already."

Another added: "That's our summer window sorted then."

While a third wrote: "Is there a template which is used every year? I bet every fan can predict the type of news we'll be getting from now till the summer window ends and even after it ends."

However, other fans were more supportive of Morton.

"I don't understand why people are angry. As long as this isn't an excuse to sign midfielders, giving Morton a chance is good," wrote one supporter.

While another added: "I'm not against giving Morton and Stefan Bajcetic starts next season. But we need at least 3 new midfielders playing alongside them next season."
