Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to be offered to Southampton in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Sources have suggested to Football Insider that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be offered on a loan deal to Southampton.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has a contract until the end of the season with Liverpool and after five and a half years at the club, he is not expected to be offered a new one.

The midfielder signed from Arsenal for just £34million back in 2017.

Romano: "No talks to extend his contract"

The midfielder turns 30 next year and Jurgen Klopp already has an ageing midfield.

The 29-year-old has missed much of this season due to injury and Liverpool have looked thin in the midfield at times.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the suggestions that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be on the move.

In a tweet, the transfer guru said: "Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, expected to leave Liverpool in 2023 as free agent. There are no talks to extend his contract as things stand.

"New midfielders will be the priority for Liverpool on the market next year," he added.

His time at the Merseyside club has seen him make 137 appearances and the former Arsenal man has won it all at the Reds. The Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup, Community Shield and Club World Cup are all trophies he has to his name.
