Arsenal agree to sell three first-team players in matter of hours as ruthless overhaul continues

It is expected to be a busy 24 hours of outgoings at Arsenal after the reigning Premier League champions agreed to sell three players before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.

A host of first-team players have left the North London club in recent weeks, including Christian Norgaard, Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson, who left by mutual consent.

In terms of incomings, Mikel Arteta's side have spent close to £200 million on transfers this summer, with Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie and Ezri Konsa all arriving for significant fees.

It appears Arsenal will recoup some of that cash in the final hours of the window, though.

The Gunners are in advanced talks with Hamburg over a £7.7 million deal to offload Fabio Vieira, who spent last season on loan at the German club, where he scored seven goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.

Much was expected of Vieira when he joined from Porto in 2022 for a reported £34 million, but the Portuguese midfielder has struggled to pin down a regular spot in Arteta's side.

In fact, he's made just 47 appearances for the Gunners, with only five of those being Premier League starts.

Arsenal set to receive club-record fee for Gabriel Martinelli

As well as Vieira, Arsenal are expected to part ways with Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 62 goals in 278 appearances during his seven-year spell in North London, is on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal for around €65 million (£55.7m).

If the deal goes through, Arsenal will earn a club-record fee for a player sale, surpassing the £35 million they received from Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer of 2017.

"I think everybody knows and recognises how much we love Gabi," said Arteta ahead of their Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Monday. "Whatever the outcome is, it will be because everybody agrees to that."

Gabriel Jesus is also expected to follow Martinelli out the door. The injury-prone Brazilian, who has struggled for regular minutes over the past couple of seasons, is close to joining Barcelona for around £8.5 million plus add-ons.

The 29-year-old will sign a two-year deal at Barca, according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims Arsenal 'authorised' his travel on Monday ahead of a medical.

In total, Jesus has notched 32 goals and 22 assists in 123 appearances for Arsenal. He joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022 for £45 million.
