Liam Gallagher drops X-rated rant after Man City charged with allegedly breaking Premier League financial rules

Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher has launched a scathing attack on the ‘big bullies’ after defending champions Manchester City allegedly broke Premier League financial rules.

City on Monday were hit with the shock news that the club allegedly breached over 100 violations in the years following Abu Dhabi United Group’s takeover.

The four-year investigation has now led to an independent commission to look further into the allegations, ranging in the period between 2009 to 2018.

The independent commission could sanction City with different punishments, including a fine, expulsion from the Premier League or a potential points deduction.

A lifelong City fan, Gallagher took to Twitter and launched an X-rated rant after the six-time Premier League champions were charged with breaking financial rules.

“The Premier league are BIG BULLYS [sic] Investigate 1 Investigate them all you shower of s**t,” he tweeted.

Pep Guardiola’s future has become uncertain amid the allegations lodged against the club, with the City manager’s previous comments on the Financial Fair Play investigation resurfacing.

When one Twitter user suggested that Guardiola could leave in the summer, Gallagher hit back: “You’ve been saying that since he come [sic] sit down and stop smoking cream eggs.”

City on Monday broke their silence and said in a statement that they are keen for the matter to be “put to rest once and for all.”

“Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with,” the club said.

“The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

“As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all.”
