The 'most overpowered player in FIFA history' quit football after bizarre career that included eight clubs in five years

The player was one of the most deadly players on FIFA games over the years but his real-life career was a mixed bag.

It's been more than a decade and gamers are still having nightmares over AS Roma's front three on FIFA 15.

The Serie A side's attack was fast and furious, with Victor Ibarbo and Gervinho supporting quite possibly the most overpowered player in FIFA history in Seydou Doumbia.

Doumbia, an Ivory Coast international who was capped 37 times and won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, will forever be seen as a cult hero by the FIFA community for the damage he did on the game.

His first Ultimate Team appearance came back in FIFA 11 when he had his first stint in Europe with Swiss side Young Boys, scoring 57 goals in 78 appearances and later moving to Russian side CSKA Moscow.

Doumbia won two Russian Premier League titles with CSKA and notched 84 times - including five Champions League goals against Manchester City.

He, along with the likes of Hulk, Emmanuel Emenike, Danny, Welliton, Aiden McGeady and Igor Akinfeev, made up an incredible Russian league side on FIFA 13. You just had to be there.

In January 2015, Doumbia joined Roma for a reported €14.4 million and formed part of that devastating trident.

However, his 82-rated card with 93 pace on FIFA 15 was more effective as Doumbia managed to find the net just twice in 13 appearances and returned to CSKA on loan back in August.

He then had another brief and unsuccessful loan spell with Newcastle in the Premier League - making three substitute appearances and failing to score.

A third consecutive loan arrived in the summer of 2016 when he returned to Switzerland with Basel - winning the league after scoring 21 goals in 33 games.

His price tag prevented a permanent move and he spent the 2017/18 season with Sporting CP in Portugal before bagging a permanent deal with Girona in La Liga a year later.

Doumbia fancied another crack in the Swiss top flight and turned out for Sion, though he and eight other teammates were sacked in March 2020 for reportedly refusing a pay cut when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

After a short-term switch to Maltese Premier League club Hamrun Spartans, Doumbia retired from football in 2022.
