Many believe Pajtim Kasami is responsible for the most underrated goal in Premier League history

It will go down as one of the greatest volleys of all time.

Former Fulham manager Martin Jol said it was one of the best goals he'd ever seen.

In fact, he later claimed the strike was BETTER than Marco van Basten's famous volley at the European Championships in '88. "It was better than you think." Jol said in his post-match interview. "He controlled it on his chest and put it in the other corner. Marco's was very different. You can't compare them, but this was better!"

Jol was right. Van Basten's goal is widely regarded as one of the greatest goals of all time - and rightly so - but Pajtim Kasami's strike against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park was just as good, if not better, for so many reasons. The chest control. The volley. The power.

You could even say it's the most underrated goal in Premier League history. And many do.

On October 21, 2013, it looked like Ian Holloway's Palace side would stroll to victory when Adrian Mariappa scored in the 7th minute.

But that man Kasami silenced the home side when he controlled the ball on his chest, turned his body and unleashed one hell of a volley.

"It will surely be one of the goals of the season," says the commentator, taken aback by the strike. "It's come from absolutely nowhere for Fulham. A stunning volley. Speroni knew nothing about it. How about the chest control? Just sensational."

Crystal Palace lost all hope after Kasami's thunderous effort and goals from Steve Sidwell, Dimitar Berbatov and a rare strike from Philippe Senderos, of all people, sealed an emphatic 4-1 win for Martin Jol's side.

But it was that volley from the Swiss international that grabbed the headlines.

On the subject of underrated Premier League goals that don't get talked about enough, Johan Elmander's majestic effort against Wolves has to get a mention.

He wasn't the most elegant of strikers; neither was he the most prolific. During a forgettable three year spell with Bolton Wanderers, the Swedish forward managed just 18 goals in 92 appearances for The Trotters before joining Galatasaray on a free transfer in 2011.

He did, however, show glimpses of brilliance under the likes of Gary Megson and Owen Coyle.

Take this breathtaking finish against Wolves, for example.
