At the age of 39, Real Madrid and Spain legend Sergio Ramos could finally be on his way to the Premier League.
Ramos, who is currently plying his trade in Mexico with Monterrey, is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs of the past two decades, having captained Real Madrid and the Spanish national team.
The defender clearly still has a lot to offer despite obviously being in the twilight of his illustrious career, with the Spaniard registering seven goals in 32 games since joining Monterrey in February of 2025.
However, Ramos’ contract is set to expire at the end of December, meaning he will be available for free come January 2026 and as expected, several suitors have already reportedly emerged, including a Premier League club.

The 39-year-old announced that he played his final game for Monterrey in their Liga MX play-off semi-final defeat against Toluca on December 7.
Speaking after the loss, Ramos claimed that the fixture was his “last game” for the club, with reports suggesting he is favouring a return to Europe.
And according to reports from Cadena SER, relayed by Fichajes, the former Paris Saint-Germain man has reportedly received an offer to join Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United at the start of 2026.
The report claims that although United are frontrunners to sign Ramos, there are still looming doubts about whether the deal will be completed.
United have previously shown interest in Ramos on multiple occasions, namely in 2015, with the player himself confirming this in a 2023 interview with the Mirror.
"I stayed where I should have stayed, Real Madrid, but I was indeed close to playing for United,” he admitted.
"It was not to be, but I do keep that admiration for the club, to the Premier League and the players, because the rhythm of play, the pace is different, and it's a league we can all learn a great deal from, all of us.”

And the decision to remain at Madrid proved to be the right one as he went on to add three Champions League winners’ medals to his already impressive trophy haul at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was reported by Sky Sports at the time that United bid £28.6 million for Ramos’ services, but the deal fell through with the defender going on to sign a new five-year deal that summer.
So we could yet see Ramos competing in England’s top-flight after all. He would, no doubt, strengthen United’s back line, which is currently made up by centre-backs Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Harry Maguire.
