Real Madrid reportedly want to sign one of Manchester United’s star players to potentially replace Jude Bellingham amid supposed concerns about the Englishman’s attitude.
Since arriving at Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, Bellingham has proven his worth and is a mainstay in Los Blancos’ midfield.
And despite there being no doubt about his ability, at times, his attitude towards match officials and even his teammates has been called into question.
Following Real Madrid’s 4-2 defeat at Benfica on Wednesday (January 28), which meant they failed to secure automatic qualification for the Champions League knockout stages, Bellingham appeared to call out his own teammates and explained how he was “running out of words for these games” before suggesting his teammates “don’t do basic things” right despite being “talented”.

Ahead of the game, Spanish outlet Cadena SER reported that Bellingham was one of five Real players – alongside Arda Guler, Franco Mastantuono, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga – that had held discussions with club president Florentino Perez following Xabi Alonso’s departure earlier in January.

Perez reportedly asked Bellingham for more leadership while telling the others that personal preferences about preferred positions must not come before the team after Valverde and Camavinga had complained about playing at full-back over the course of the season.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos head coach Alvaro Arbeloa was complimentary about Bellingham in his pre-match press conference, describing the 22-year-old as someone who “wants to be a leader” and a “role model”.
“The performance he's giving in training, his commitment and his leadership... I'm very proud of having a player like Jude Bellingham,” the Real boss said.
However, since then, a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes has claimed that Bruno Fernandes is on Real’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window as the Manchester United captain’s current Old Trafford contract runs out in June of 2027.
The report suggests that the 31-year-old may be interested in a move to the Spanish capital as he is looking for “new professional challenges” after five years with the Red Devils.
Fichajes also claims that Fernandes’ potential arrival could facilitate Bellingham leaving the club.

The Portugal international may be available for around £43 million, although it is unclear whether United would be willing to sell their captain and arguably most important player.
“The arrival of the Portuguese international would allow Florentino Pérez to execute a bold financial move that would drastically change the dressing room dynamic,” the report added.
“It is speculated that his signing would facilitate a potential sale of Jude Bellingham, generating astronomical revenue for the club in the summer transfer window.”
Bellingham’s Real contract is set to run until 2029, with the player valued at north of £100 million.
