Trent’s Brother’s Feud With Paddy Pimblett Turns Nasty After Latest Dig

The brother of the Real Madrid star has called Pimblett out following his loss to Justin Gaethje.

Marcel Alexander-Arnold has lashed out at Paddy Pimblett following the UFC star's comments about his brother.

After 20 years at Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed that he was leaving his boyhood club last summer ahead of a move to Real Madrid.

The move didn't come as a surprise to most fans, with rumours throughout the final year of the defender's contract suggesting that he was ready to leave the club as a free agent.

Alexander-Arnold's departure was not well received as many fans brandished the Liverpudlian a traitor, an opinion voiced by UFC star Pimblett on several occasions.

And now, after Pimblett picked up his first loss in the UFC octagon, Alexander-Arnold's brother Marcel has decided to lash out at the popular fighter.

Since Alexander-Arnold's controversial move to Real Madrid, Pimblett has called the former Liverpool star a "rat" and a "lizard" on several occasions.

In a recent appearance on popular sports game show A League of Their Own, Pimblett further hit out at the former Liverpool no.66, criticising him for his poor form since the transfer.

"He betrayed his boyhood club who did everything for him: made his life what it is today, and he's went to Real Madrid thinking he's going to be the next David Beckham," Pimblett said.

"And now he's warming the bench up for Carvajal. It's poetic justice at its finest."

But after losing a unanimous decision to veteran fighter Justin Gaethje at UFC 324, Marcel Alexander-Arnold took the chance to hit back at Pimblett.

"Paddy you got banged by a 37-year-old. That's poetic justice," Marcel said during a livestream.

"You were warming Justin Gaethje's gloves up with your face, that's poetic justice.

"You tried to box with a boxer and then got banged. That's poetic justice – simple as that.

"Come back when you've won a championship belt. We all know you're not getting past Ilia, you didn't get past Justin Gaethje and you won't get past Arman. So when you've got a championship belt, you can talk like this."

Since his arrival at the Bernabeu, Alexander-Arnold has struggled to find a regular place in the Real Madrid squad as poor form and fitness issues keeps him out of the team.

After joining in a £10million move ahead of last summer's Club World Cup, the 27-year-old has made just 16 appearances in all competitions.

Currently, Alexander-Arnold is sidelined by a thigh injury picked up against Athletic Bilbao in early December and is not expected back until next month.

This turn in form and consistent injury issues has created doubts about his place in England's squad for the upcoming World Cup, with Alexander-Arnold featuring just once for his national team under Thomas Tuchel.
