Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruthlessly decided his first Besiktas casualty and it's a former Premier League star

The former Man Utd manager has made his feelings about one Besiktas player clear just days after joining the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly decided on the first player he will axe from the Besiktas squad just days over taking over as manager.

After spending three years away from management after being sacked by Manchester United, Solskjaer was officially announced as the new Besiktas boss last week.

Since arriving at the Turkish club, the 51-year-old has reportedly been heavily involved in Besiktas' business in the January transfer window, attempting to force the club to sign one of his most important players during his time at United.

But now, the Norwegian has reportedly turned his focus to outgoings, as he has decided he wants the club to get rid of one Premier League winner.

According to several Turkish outlets, via Sport Witness, Solskjaer has informed Besiktas that he would be willing to part ways with former Liverpool and Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this month.

The Englishman joined Besiktas as a free agent in August 2023, following the end of his six-year spell at Anfield.

Since then, Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled to make his mark at the Turkish club, making only 35 appearances and scoring just five goals in nearly two years at the club.

Therefore, it is believed that the midfielder is viewed as up for sale, with Championship club Sheffield United said to be the most likely destination, should he secure a move in the final weeks of the ongoing transfer window.

The Blades were said to be interested in making a move for the 31-year-old last summer, and recent reports have claimed that they are once again considering submitting a bid for the Premier League and Champions League winner.

Should a bid come through, it is almost certain that Besiktas will accept, as Solskjaer has reportedly informed the club that he intends on signing his own players in the near future.

And it is believed that Sheffield United are not the only club interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain's current situation, as his agent has reportedly been speaking to multiple parties about a potential transfer.

The midfielders contract with Besiktas runs until June 2026, meaning now could be the perfect time for Solskjaer to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain should he hope to strengthen his squad in his first summer as manager.
