A shock candidate has emerged as the early favourite to become the next Nottingham Forest manager after Sean Dyche was sacked.
On Wednesday night, Forest hosted fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground in what was billed as a relegation six-pointer.
Although Forest dominated proceedings, they failed to find a winning goal as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
As a result, Forest are now three points ahead of 18th-placed West Ham United, while Wolves stay bottom with just nine points.

Around three hours after the match ended, it was confirmed that Dyche had been sacked.
A statement from the club read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.
"We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the Club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time."

Forest are now looking for their fourth manager of the 25/26 season, with Dyche joining Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou on Evangelos Marinakis' ever-growing sacked list.
As per the Daily Mail, ex-Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is a potential contender to replace Dyche.
Pereira, 57, was sacked by Wolves in November 2025 after a torrid start to the campaign but did lead the team to safety last season in impressive style.
Meanwhile, according to OLBG, former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the shock favourite to take over at the City Ground, with odds of 6/4. The Norwegian is followed by Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi (2/1) and Pereira (3/1).
Meanwhile, the likes of Thomas Frank (5/1), Enzo Maresca (6/1) and Sam Allardyce (8/1) have also been linked.
However, it was noted that OLBG stated: "As betting sites currently aren't taking bets on this event, odds have been compiled as theoretical probability from an entertainment perspective only and come from an industry expert."

Speaking after the draw against Wolves, Dyche hinted at a potential managerial change.
He said: "If anyone chooses to change in football now, that's their decision. If the owner wants to make a change, then that's up to him. That's the way football is now, that's just the reality of it.
"But I'm not questioning the owner here. He's been absolutely fair with me from the beginning to the end, and I've been fair with him and told him the truth every step of the way."
Forest are back in action next week when they take on Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce in the Europa League play-off.
