Newcastle Make Eddie Howe Sack Decision With Club 13th in Premier League

Newcastle United have reportedly made a decision on Eddie Howe's future amid the club's stuttering form.

The summer transfer window was dominated by Newcastle as their striker, Alexander Isak, tried his best to engineer a move away.

Eventually, Newcastle allowed Isak to leave for Liverpool in a British record deal worth £125 million.

Meanwhile, the Magpies brought in the likes of Malick Thiaw, Jacob Ramsey, Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade.

So far, Woltemade has impressed the most, having scored six goals in 12 matches across all competitions.

However, Newcastle are currently 13th in the Premier League table, and questions over Howe's future were raised after their 3-1 defeat by West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

So far this season, Newcastle have won three, drawn three and lost four of their opening 10 fixtures.

However, as reported by Geordie Boot Boys, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Newcastle owners, the PIF, are firmly behind Howe.

He said: "PIF firmly believe that Eddie Howe is only man for them and Newcastle. Nobody is going to work harder than Eddie Howe and now Ross Wilson is in, it actually gives Eddie the chance to concentrate on the squad.

"There is a sense of frustration at the club, but that is from Eddie as much as anyone. Losing Alexander Isak as they did was a blow and Yoane Wissa still hasn’t played – that is the frustration, they honestly believe they improved this squad, they love what they did."

Bailey added: "Newcastle, that being PIF, Eddie and the squad firmly believe they should be finishing top-six at the very least, indeed whilst not title challengers – they see themselves as next best, but they know they need to show it."

A furious Howe was heavily critical of his players after the Magpies' defeat by West Ham.

He said: "I could have taken anyone off. That is a reflection of where we were at that stage of the game.

"It is very rare for me to feel that way. I don’t think I have since I have been Newcastle manager. I felt that the team needed shaking up at half-time, that’s why I did what I did."

Ally McCoist reacts to Eddie Howe sack rumours

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist was told that some Newcastle fans are starting to lose faith in Howe.

In response, the Scotsman rebuffed claims that Howe should be sacked.

He said: "Miles away [from getting sacked]. He has done and is doing a fantastic job. I understand the frustrations, and he’ll be as frustrated as anybody.

"But come on. He won them a trophy and Champions League football. We’re 10 games into the season. Newcastle will be fine. Absolutely fine."

McCoist added: "My only concern was the one they had the last time getting into the Champions League, and that was the squad being big enough. I certainly think the squad is bigger and better than it was even last season.

"Everybody, calm down. Eddie will be absolutely fine."
