A contentious Mexico City GP took another turn after a huge crash for the Valtteri Bottas.
The sizeable shunt at Turn 1 saw the red flag brought out immediately, and cars called into the pitlane.
Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton, already furious with his team for an earlier incident with Charles Leclerc, was giving his team ominous messages on the radio.
Lewis Hamilton sends furious messages to Ferrari team at Mexico City GP
Having seen himself lose the lead and drop to third at the start of the race after Charles Leclerc cut Turn 4, Hamilton was left to vent on team radio.
“Got pushed out by my own teammate,” he raged. When Leclerc was given a 5sec penalty by stewards for his actions, Hamilton wasn’t satisfied.

Now in third and stuck behind Max Verstappen, the Brit was having to go slower to stop his car overheating, while Leclerc was in clear air out front.

“Problem with the five second penalty is he’s got clean air,” Hamilton complained. “He doesn’t have to manage like the rest of us.”
The Brit then revealed about a potential pre-race agreement:
“The stewards are basically handing Charles this win,” he said. “We agreed, in the drivers’ briefing.”
Then on lap 46, after the first set of pit stops, Valtteri Bottas suffered a huge suspension failure at Turn 1 in his Cadillac, the Finn hitting the barriers hard.
At first the Safety Car was brought out, prior to any potential red flag.
Hamilton immediately dived into the pits, potentially giving him a new tyre advantage over Leclerc and Verstappen.
However the race was then stopped to repair the barriers, meaning all other cars could change their tyres under the red flag too - making Hamilton even angrier.
“We’ve got big problems,” he said angrily on the radio. “Big, big problems.”
The race will now restart again from a standing start.

Cadillac issues statement following Valtteri Bottas crash in Mexico
The American Cadillac team then released a statement following Bottas's huge crash.
"Valtteri has been taken to the Medical Center for further medical assessments as a precaution following an incident on Lap 46," it said.
"He got out of the car unaided and was responsive on the radio."
The crash marked the latest incident in a sorry season for the Finn, with a multitude of reliability issues affecting his races, as well as finding himself regularly outpaced by teammate Sergio Perez.
The Cadillac team is now assessing other options to potentially race instead of the Bottas in 2027, including its American test driver Colton Herta and Mercedes third driver Frederik Vesti.
Meanwhile, it has also announced that Perez has committed to a new longterm deal, keeping him at the team until at least 2029.
