Lewis Hamilton has opened up on what was agreed with Charles Leclerc before the controversial 2026 Mexico City GP.
Starting from pole, he and Charles Leclerc went wheel-to-wheel in the opening corners, with the latter eventually cutting the track to preserve his lead, while Hamilton fell to third as a result.

But what had come before was a series of furious radio messages sent towards Ferrari, where he urged them to acknowledge a pre-race agreement.
Leclerc was given a 5sec penalty for going off and keeping an advantage, but Hamilton still wasn't happy.
“The stewards are basically handing Charles this win,” he said, before saying: “We agreed, in the drivers’ briefing.”

After finishing, the Brit was more composed in his post-race interview, but still clearly unhappy.
“Tough day. I think we had the pace to win today, but it wasn’t meant to be, and we’ll take it offline and figure out what we can do in the background," he said.
“In the drivers’ briefing, we discussed as soon as you go off in Turn 1, you have to give the position back. Last year I got a 10-second penalty for that same move that he did.
“But ultimately, it was that that lost us the win today. I think we have to have some serious talks behind the scenes, for sure.
“But the good thing is the team are working really hard. We’ve really improved our car. It’s great to be here, and we were on the old engine this weekend as well.
“Good results, good points. Shame we didn’t get a win, but some you win, some you lose."

Ferrari driver pays tribute to Kimi Antonelli
Hamilton still took the time to appreciate Kimi Antonelli, whose third place finish secured him the 2026 title - making him the youngest champion of all time at 20 years and 68 days.
"A huge congratulations to Kimi and the Mercedes team," said Hamilton. "It's great to see them all up here celebrating their success. Youngest world champion ever. It's pretty phenomenal, and I'm so grateful to be in the race to witness it."
