Newcastle fans have voiced their anger over an alleged image of Anthony Gordon and Virgil van Dijk which has circulated on social media.
Gordon and Van Dijk clashed during Liverpool's recent 3-2 victory over Newcastle in the Premier League on August 25.
England international Gordon was sent off for a shocking late challenge on the Dutchman as tempers boiled over at St James' Park.
Tensions between the two clubs were at their peak, with striker Alexander Isak refusing to play in the match in an effort to secure a move to Liverpool. He would eventually join the Merseyside club in a £125m British record transfer.

In the heated encounter in North East, Liverpool took a 2-0 lead and looked to be cruising to victory when Gordon was sent off after colliding at speed with Van Dijk shortly before half time.
Gordon initially looked like receiving a yellow card but was sent off after the video assistant referee recommended a red after reviewing footage.
Newcastle fought back valiantly after the break to level the match at 2-2 before youngster Rio Ngumoha snatched victory for Liverpool with a dramatic winner in second-half stoppage time.

Gordon later issued a public apology to Newcastle supporters after his red card.
"I want to sincerely apologise to my team-mates and the fans. My intentions were pure. I was just trying to create energy in the game and I mistimed the tackle," he posted on Instagram.
"I also want to apologise to Virgil. I would never intend to tackle somebody like this on purpose. We spoke after and he knows that."
Now, an image purporting to show Gordon and Van Dijk meeting after the match has circulated on social media.

The image, which has not yet been confirmed as genuine by either player, appears to show Gordon smiling while stood next to Van Dijk in the tunnel at St James' Park.
Liverpool fans have been quick to mock Newcastle supporters over the image, claiming it's evidence boyhood Reds fan Gordon is keen to join the club as well as Isak.
"Future Liverpool player guaranteed," posted one fan on X.
While another added: "He's coming home isn't he?"

However, Newcastle fans were less impressed, with one posting: "It's not the worst thing I've ever seen but much like the Insta-backing of Isak, it's just completely inappropriate under the circumstances."
Another added: "Surely not?"

Another fan questioned the veracity of the image, replying: "This is a cropped photo out of context."
While another supporter added: "Bunch of grown men having a meltdown about a photo. It's embarrassing!
"Who cares, as long as he's playing well and doing what he's paid to do. It's a World Cup year he'll fly this season."
