Man United fans spot what Raphael Varane did to Douglas Luiz after Scott McTominay's winner

Raphael Varane and Douglas Luiz clashed following Scott McTominay's goal.

Manchester United fans have spotted what Raphael Varane did to Douglas Luiz following Scott McTominay's dramatic winner against Aston Villa.

Man United beat Villa 2-1 on Sunday as they closed the gap on Unai Emery's side to five points, making history in the process.

Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring in the 17th minute to continue his impressive goal-scoring streak.

In the second-half, Villa levelled through Luiz who scored from close range and seemed to aim a celebration at Andre Onana.

Luiz shimmed his shoulders in the direction of the goalkeeper, which ultimately backfired as Man United grabbed a late winner.

Scott McTominay, who replaced Marcus Rashford in the 73rd minute, headed home from Diogo Dalot's cross to score his team's winner.

During the celebrations for McTominay's goal, Varane confronted Luiz after he retrieved the ball.

They exchanged words before match referee Robert Jones intervened.

The incident between the Brazilian midfielder and the French defender didn't go unnoticed by Man United fans on social media.

One X user wrote: "Spotted that too, no f**king idea where this myth he’s only here for the money came from. He loves United."

A second tweeted: "Celebrating so smugly in front of Varane (for an equaliser no less) was so weird. Just like Maupay doing the same thing in front of Maddison. Both were on the losing side eventually."

A third added: "Luiz wasn’t shimmying then."

Man United had the last laugh as they secured a priceless victory at Villa Park as they fight for Champions League qualification.

After the match, Erik ten Hag was asked about Luiz's celebration.

"I don’t have an opinion on it. I haven’t spoken to the players. It may have fuelled the players. I don’t know," he said.

"We have to think about our game. Not about the opposition. We always want to control the game and dictate it. That should be our approach."
