Fans are divided after seeing Rob Edwards dressing room celebrations after he secured his first win as Wolves boss against Aston Villa.

Wolves handed a shock blow to Unai Emery's Champions League ambitions with a 2-0 win over their local rivals, sealed with a 90+8th minute goal from Rodrigo Gomes.

The win ensured Wolves escaped the tag of the Premier League's worst ever team, with the three points taking them beyond the 11 points scored by Derby in 2007/8.

Rob Edwards' side remain in 20th place and 14 points off safety despite the win, but that didn't stop the Wolves manager from thoroughly enjoying the result.

Following full-time, the Wolves social media account posted behind the scenes footage of Edwards celebrating with his players in the dressing room.

Some fans were left unimpressed by the 43-year-old's antics, believing the celebration was excessive given the club's fate of relegation.

One fan wrote: "What’s actually the essence of this celebration when you’ll surely head back to championship?"

Another claimed: "Celebrating like this on the brink of relegation is really alarming."

A third fan added: "Genuinely the weirdest most over the top celebration I’ve ever seen. They aren’t even their main rivals."

However, not all fans were critical of the passion shown by the Wolves boss, with many pointing the finger at the celebration police.

"Building up confidence for next season? Seems ok to me," one fan replied.

Another posted: "Only 4 losses in 12, serious upturn in fight, determination and performances too, got us past Derby's record, into the 5th round of the cup, has unbeaten passion and desire for the club. Back him!"

A third wrote: "These are the fucking moments why Rob Edwards wanted to come here, this is his club and we’re all here for it."

Speaking after the game, Edwards addressed his emphatic celebrations, and insisted that the club should be allowed to enjoy these moments of victory.

“There was a lot of emotion, and I lost myself for a while," Edwards said via Wolves.

"Football can do that to you. I forgot where I was and who was watching. I know it’s been a really difficult season, but if you can’t enjoy those moments, in a really big game, against a brilliant team, then you shouldn’t be in the game."

He added: "I think it’s right that we all enjoy it.”
