Bruno Fernandes Trolls Aston Villa Fans as New Pitchside Footage Emerges

The Manchester United captain was withdrawn due to injury as his side lost 2-1 against Aston Villa.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes appeared to troll Aston Villa fans sitting near the dugout at Villa Park after the Portuguese came off injured on Sunday (December 21).

Unai Emery’s side secured their tenth successive victory in all competitions with Morgan Rogers’ brace, which cancelled out Matheus Cunha’s strike, registering a 2-1 win for the Midlands club.

Villa stay within two points of league leaders Arsenal, and just one behind second-place Manchester City after 17 top-flight matches, and for now remain in the race for the title.

As for United, they are now seventh, having won seven, drawn five, and lost five of their 17 games this term.

And the result wasn’t the only negative to come from Sunday’s defeat against Villa, with captain Fernandes forced off with a hamstring injury.

After the match, Amorim confirmed that his Portuguese counterpart would miss United’s clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

"It's a soft tissue, I think he's going to lose some games, I don't know for sure,” Amorim said.

“He is a guy who is always fit, so he might recover quite well."

It was obvious Fernandes was struggling by the way he walked slowly towards the United bench, where he watched the second half, but this did not prevent him from becoming involved in a verbal exchange with some Villa supporters housed in the stand behind.

Fernandes, who was draped in a purple Manchester coat with his hood up, stood up and turned towards some fans before he said: “You sing more for me than for your team… don’t be angry because I always score against you.”

A member of United’s backroom staff then appeared to tell the 31-year-old to turn around and sit down, which caused the Villa fans to cheer sarcastically.

Fernandes has registered seven goals and three assists in 13 appearances against Villa, as well as coming out on the winning side nine times.

Social media users on X were quick to offer their thoughts on Fernandes’ exchange with the fans.

One said: “He has more goal contributions (10) against Villa than they have scored in those 13 games with him on the pitch (9).

“You come at the king, you best not miss.”

Another added: “He should focus on helping his team, not trash-talking rival fans.”

A third claimed: “Bruno, you can’t be doing this when we suck, man.”

While a fourth commented: “Tell them my captain…”
