Manchester United fans have spoken out after local rivals Manchester City lost their fifth match in a row for the first time under Pep Guardiola.

On Thursday night, City fans celebrated as the club confirmed that long-serving manager Guardiola had penned a new two-year deal with the club, extending his stay until 2027.

However, their celebrations came crashing down on Saturday as they lost 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at the Eithad Stadium, making it five losses in a row across all competitions.

And in the wake of the shocking result, United fans have taken to social media to say one thing in particular about their long-term rivals.

After winning 18 trophies with City, including five Premier League titles, many fans have claimed that Guardiola is the greatest manager that England has ever seen.

But after the dismal display against Tottenham, United fans have assured their rivals that the best ever manager is Sir Alex Ferguson.

Posting on X, one United fan wrote: "No Rodri and Pep Guardiola is crumbling.

"Imagine comparing him to Sir Alex Ferguson who won the league with this starting XI.

"THE GOAT MANAGER!!"

Another agreed, adding: "Pep Guardiola is currently losing his 5th game in a row

"Never ever compare this fraud to Sir Alex Ferguson."

While one noted: "Sir Alex Ferguson has never lost 4 games in a row, while someone is losing his 5th in a row.

"Never compare him to PEP or others. NEVER!"

The shock result ends City's 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad and marks their second defeat to the London club in just 25 days having lost 2-1 to Tottenham in the EFL cup in October.

The champions other losses in the five game slide came at the hands of Bournemouth, Sporting Lisbon and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Speaking aftet the game, Guardiola said: "In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation. Now we have to live it and break it by winning the next games, especially the next one.

"Now we see things in one way, maybe in a few weeks we will see it differently.

"Of course [the players are struggling]. We are happy when we win and concerned when we don't win. It's normal.

"There would be a problem if they were not worried or I am not worried."
