Two Man Utd players forced to leave Old Trafford at half-time during Lyon win

Manchester United mounted a stunning comeback against Lyon at Old Trafford.

Two Manchester United stars reportedly left Old Trafford at half-time during their Europa League clash against Lyon.

After the first leg ended in a 2-2 draw in France, United arrived at Old Trafford on Thursday night knowing a win would seal their place in the semi-final of the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim's men got off to the perfect start as goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot gave them a 2-0 lead at the break.

However, things unravelled in the second half as Corentin Tolisso and Nicolas Tagliafico scored to make it 2-2, sending the tie to extra time.

Rayan Cherki and Alexandre Lacazette then stunned Old Trafford by making it 4-2 with 109 minutes on the clock.

Things were looking bleak for United, but goals from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire completed a monumental 5-4 comeback win.

United will now face Athletic Club in the semi-final after they knocked out Rangers.

After the match, it was claimed that two United stars were forced to leave Old Trafford during the half-time interval.

As reported by the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler, who wrote on social media: "Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelof both had to leave OT at half-time tonight for urgent family issues which are said to be entirely unrelated."

Luke Shaw replaced Mazraoui at the start of the second half, and Lindelof was not able to retake his place on the bench.

Speaking about the duo after the match, Amorim said: "We had a problem with Noussa at half time.

"Vic has a personal problem, he had to leave."

Reflecting on a wild night at Old Trafford, Amorim added: "4-2 with one more player and you think it's over. But here, it's never over. I was watching again the ‘99 documentary for inspiration for these moments, it was a great night.

"The sounds of the stadium was the best ever. Some people collect shirts, scarves, but I want to keep that sound, it's the best sound in the world. I feel for the people who had to leave at 4-2 because of the traffic, they will be gutted."

On the other side of the draw, fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur will take on Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt for a place in the final.
