Fans are not happy with TNT Sports after hearing the commentary to Harry Maguire's dramatic winning goal during for Manchester United in the Europa League.

In what was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic matches of European football in some time, United booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals with a 5-4 win over Lyon on Thursday.

After the first leg in France finished 2-2, it all came to the meeting at Old Trafford, which saw two goals for each team in normal time, a red card for Lyon, another two goals for the visitors in extra time and three dramatic goals from United to win the game.

Maguire was the unlikely hero for United in the fixture, scoring a goal in the 120th minute of the game, leading to a huge reaction from Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Savafe which has left fans angry.

United appeared to be completely deflated in the second period of half-time after a goal from Lyon star Rayan Cherki and a penalty from former Arsenal striker Alexander Lacazette put the hosts two goals behind.

But these feelings quickly turned to pure elation as the Red Devils scored three goals in six minutes, causing Ferdinand and Savage to go crazy on commentary.

After screaming and celebrating Maguire's winner, Ferdinand said: "No other sport I know does this. They can't take you as high as a kite, as low as a snake's belly."

The former United defender was then quickly told by colleague Darren Fletcher to calm down and gather himself to talk viewers through the goal, but all Ferdinand could muster was "what a header," leaving some fans frustrated.

Reacting to the moment on social media, one fan wrote: "Would have enjoyed it a lot more if you weren’t feeding through the MUTV commentary."

While another added: "Great moment, but some of the worst commentary I’ve ever heard. Ferdinand and Savage just screaming. I would dread to think what some of the all time greats like Brian Moore would make of that."

One pleaded: "If anyone, anywhere in your organisation with any semblance of influence - please never employ Robbie Savage and Rio Ferdinand as co commentators ever, ever again."

And one called out Ferdinand specifically, writing: "Can someone ban Rio from doing commentary ever again."

United will face Athletic Club in the semi-finals following their 2-0 home win over Rangers following a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Glasgow.

The first leg will be played on May 1, with the second leg to take place a week later.
