Man Utd and Arsenal sent scouts to watch same £30m player and his performance speaks volumes

Manchester United and Arsenal both sent scouts to watch a match involving Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk - and what they saw spoke volumes.

Both clubs have been active in the transfer market so far this summer, with United bolstering their midfield with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have completed a £35million deal for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis and are closing in on a move for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners have set money aside for a big-money bid to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid, although reports from Spain indicate he is now close to extending his contract with Los Blancos.

Arsenal, therefore, have the budget to look elsewhere - and they appear to be doing so with one of Vinicius' younger compatriots.

According to The Sun, United and Arsenal sent scouts to watch Shakhtar striker Kaua Elias during his side's Ukraine Premier League match against Kudrivka, a game which Shakhtar won 5-1.

The 20-year-old is valued at approximately £30million, netted a perfect hat-trick in the victory to underline his undoubted potential.

It is claimed that both Premier League clubs gave 'extremely glowing evaluations' of Elias' performance, with his 'technical ability and composure in scoring opportunities' both noted as 'features that currently set him apart from other young forwards'.

He was named by The Guardian as the top young talent in world football born in 2006.

Born in Brazil, he came through the youth system at Fluminense before breaking into their senior team.

Elias was signed by Shakhtar last year on a contract until December 2029. AC Milan and FC Porto are among the other clubs listed with an interest in the striker.

He netted six goals in 18 league appearances last season and provided two assists. Shakhtar's 5-1 win over Kudrivka was his first appearance of the new campaign.

Shakhtar are currently managed by Atletico Madrid icon Arda Turan, who guided the Ukrainian side to another league title last season and a Conference League semi-final.

"He really is someone who understands exactly what we need most," Elias told Shakhtar's official website about his relationship with Turan.

"Whenever he has the chance, he calls someone over and talks to him, whether it's about personal matters or football. Most importantly, he knows how to show us the path we need to follow and the vision of football we should embrace, so that we don't just win matches, but win them while staying true to our values."

On his hat-trick, the Brazilian youth international added: "The first goal came from a great cross, and all I had to do was finish it.

"For the second, I won the challenge, shielded the ball and managed to find the net. The third came after a long ball in a quick counter-attack. I won the battle with the centre-backs and finished past the goalkeeper.

"I'd also like to thank Alisson [team-mate] for his incredible contribution to my goals. I'm absolutely delighted and full of emotions!"
