Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained the reasoning behind signing Jonny Evans on a short-term deal.
Evans, who left Leicester City at the end of last season, has re-signed for Man United after impressing Ten Hag in training.
The Northern Ireland international started his professional career at the club after graduating from the youth academy.

He made 198 appearances for the Red Devils before moving away from Old Trafford as he enjoyed spells at Sunderland, West Brom and Leicester.
Evans has since returned to Man United, with the deal enabling him to play in friendly matches against Lyon and Wrexham.
And ahead of their fixture against the French side at Murrayfield Stadium, Ten Hag revealed the thinking behind snapping up the 35-year-old on a short-term contract.

Speaking on MUTV, he said: "I know his place was here, at Manchester United. He came to train with us to work on his fitness... and I thought it was a good idea to help each other out."
The Dutch boss added: "Jonny can work on his fitness, and he can help us... he can help the young players."
Man United announced the transfer of Evans on Tuesday as they released a club statement.

"Experienced defender Jonny Evans has signed a short-term deal to enable him to take part in Manchester United's upcoming pre-season games in Edinburgh and San Diego," the statement reads.
"The Academy graduate had been training with the Under-21s whilst considering his options, following his departure from Leicester City at the end of last season.
"As part of the Academy training programme, he has also taken part in a number of first-team sessions and impressed Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff.
Evans, who has been capped 102 times by Northern Ireland, will travel to Edinburgh as part of the group to face Lyon on Wednesday.
