Ruben Amorim may choose to employ some harsh tactics which Sir Alex Ferguson used to use to punish out-of-favour Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho, 21, was told to find a new club by head coach Amorim earlier this summer after giving an explosive interview following United’s Europa League final defeat to Spurs in May.
The Argentina international, who is contracted to United until 2028, has since been linked with several clubs, including Napoli, but Chelsea appear to be his most likely destination if he were to move on from United this summer.
Earlier this week, BBC Sport reported that United are “braced” for an offer from Chelsea but are “determined” not to let him leave for less than what they deem him to be worth.

Then, on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano issued an update on the situation when speaking on the ‘Here We Go Podcast with Fabrizio Romano,’ and claimed the 21-year-old was willing to stay out of United’s squad if they don’t allow him to join Chelsea.

Romano said: “Some clubs from Saudi [Arabia] were willing to offer Garnacho really big money, but no chance, and for Garnacho it is really easy… he goes to Chelsea, or he goes to Man Utd out of the squad.
“That remains the case, Garnacho is not scared about that, and his priority is very clear: Chelsea Football Club.”

Amorim has made it fairly clear that Garnacho is not part of his plans, but what would Ferguson do in this situation?
Well, as several players learned during their time at United, Ferguson was not afraid to lay down the law at the club.
Back in 2001, The Guardian reported that Paul Scholes received a two-weeks' wages fine for refusing to play in a Worthington Cup tie away to Arsenal.
In his 2013 autobiography, Ferguson explained how David Beckham had to move on because he thought he was “bigger than the manager”.

"The minute a Manchester United player thought he was bigger than the manager, he had to go," he wrote. "David thought he was bigger than Alex Ferguson.
"That was the death knell for him."

The pair reportedly fell out after Ferguson criticised Beckham's performance in an FA Cup defeat by Arsenal in 2003.

That summer, Beckham left United for Real Madrid.
A similar situation saw Roy Keane leave back in 2005, when Ferguson perceived an interview the midfielder did with MUTV to be disrespectful towards his teammates, before the Irishman signed for Celtic in December of that year.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is another high-profile player who left the club after falling out with Ferguson. The Dutchman was left out of United’s squad for a Premier League match against Charlton in 2006 and subsequently drove home following a training ground bust-up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Guardian reported at the time that the move cost the forward two weeks’ wages.

Van Nistelrooy, like Beckham had in 2003, joined Real Madrid that summer.
Whether Amorim chooses to take a similar approach with Garnacho remains unclear, but it’s safe to assume that Ferguson would not approve of the winger’s current stance.
