Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has issued an update on his future after falling out-of-favour with head coach Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho, 21, fell out of favour with Amorim following his side’s disappointing 2024/25 campaign, during which United finished 15th in the Premier League as well as losing against Spurs in the Europa League final.
Subsequently The Atheltic reported that the player was told to find a new club following his outburst after the Europa League final defeat.
Garnacho had earlier said: “Up until the final, I’ve played every round, and today to play 20 minutes… I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens after.”

The Argentine has since been linked with moves to Napoli and Chelsea but at this time his future remains uncertain.
However, on Monday evening journalist Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Garnacho’s future.

Romano wrote on X: “Chelsea step up talks for Alejandro Garnacho! Club to club discussions with Man United are now well underway. Garnacho only wants Chelsea, personal terms are agreed and the two clubs are in negotiation over fee. Garnacho, expected to become #CFC player this summer.”

Romano also reported that the player has told United to facilitate his move to Chelsea or he will sit on the bench for the next six to 12 months.
According to the Mail, United value Garnacho at around £50m despite initially wanting nearer to £70m.
The 21-year-old is contracted to United until June 2028.

The winger is one of several potential departees who could leave ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Marcus Rashford has already joined Barcelona on a season-long loan while the futures of Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony still remain uncertain.
Striker Rasmus Hojlund is also reportedly wanted by Serie A clubs Inter, AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli as his game time will likely be limited due to the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.
Fans were also quick to have their say on Garnacho on social media following the latest update.

One said: "I don’t know who’s advising this guy, you don’t want to play football when the World Cup is coming?"
Another added: "This guy is a betrayal, we gave him a future and now he’s betraying us just like Ronaldo did."
A third explained: "If that’s the game he wants to play, let's keep him on the bench for three years, we'll see if Chelsea still wants you when your contract expires in three years."
