Erling Haaland's reaction after being asked about Manchester City's 115 charges has revealed exactly how he feels about the ongoing situation.

In February last year, City were accused by the Premier League of breaching the financial regulations 115 times between 2009 and 2018.

The trial deciding the outcome of the alleged breaches has been ongoing throughout the 2024/25 season, with a verdict expected to arrive sometime in the spring.

And now, City star Haaland has revealed exactly how he feels about the charges after answering a question about his future with the club.

Last week, the 24-year-old signed a record-breaking new deal with City, extending his stay with the club for a huge 9.5 years until 2034.

The news shocked some fans who expected Haaland to wait until the result of the trial was announced, but the Norwegian revealed that it had played no part in his decision to stay at City.

When asked if he had considered the 115 charges ahead of signing his new deal, he said:"No, I haven't thought of that. I am confident that the club know what they are doing and in the end, I don't think I should speak too much about this."

Haaland's new contract will reportedly see him earn a base salary of over £500,000 per week, making him one of the highest paid athletes in the world.

Therefore, it has led to some concluding that City's willingness to commit so much money to their star player, and him agreeing to the deal, shows that they aren't worried about the result of the trial.

Should they be found guilty of some or all of the charges, City could supposedly be handed a massive fine, a points deduction or even be relegated to a lower league.

However a recent report from The Athletic states that anonymous sources with 'knowledge of the situation' believe that, if City are found guilty of any charges, their sanction would likely extend only to a fine.

If this is true, then it is no surprise that Haaland was happy to stay with the Premier League champions, who he has scored an incredible 112 goals for in 127 appearances.
