Curtis Jones delivered a no-nonsense assessment of Everton's mentality after Liverpool walked away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium with three crucial points.
It was a dramatic Sunday afternoon on Merseyside. In the 10th minute of stoppage time, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk headed past Jordan Pickford to secure a memorable 2-1 victory at Everton's new home.
Beto cancelled out Mohamed Salah's strike to give David Moyes' side a chance but, like he has done on countless occasions over the years, Van Dijk came up trumps when it mattered most.
Liverpool's hopes of securing Champions League football for next season were boosted by the result, while Everton lost ground in their bid to overtake their great rivals in the Premier League standings.

If they had secured a win, the Toffees would have placed just two points behind Liverpool, a scenario that was a talking point ahead of Sunday's fixture.
In fact, in his post-match interview with Viaplay after the full-time whistle, Curtis Jones was asked what it would have meant to see Everton come so close to Liverpool in the table, and he didn't hold back.
"This shows the team that we are and the team they are," he said.
"They're celebrating that they're two points behind us in one of our worst years. If that's what they take as a stepping stone or a step in the right direction then pffttt, I don't know."
Jones added: “We don’t think about teams that are catching us. We only ever look forward and we know that we have to play in the Champions League.”
Arne Slot singled out Liverpool player after Everton game as dressing room footage emerges
Footage from Liverpool's dressing room was broadcast by Sky Sports, which appeared to show Arne Slot addressing third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman in front of the rest of the Liverpool squad.
Woodman, who replaced the injured Giorgi Mamardashvili in the second-half of Sunday's derby, was also applauded by his teammates.
“Freddie did a great job,” said Slot in his post-match interview. “Giorgi had to go to hospital, a big wound, so let’s see how he will be.
“But Freddie deserves a lot of credit, because if you have to come in after conceding the 1-1 and the fans were ready for it, but he did his job really well, kept his calm in a difficult moment where he was doubting if he should catch the ball, yes or no, and he kept his nerve and worked so hard to have this moment."
Slot added: “Usually third goalkeepers don’t play a lot, but in a season like ours I think if you are playing at the moment in the U8s of Liverpool you should be ready to make your debut because it’s unbelievable what’s happening to us!”
