Liverpool handed double Bradley Barcola transfer boost as PSG talks continue

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with a deal looking increasingly likely ahead of the start of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Liverpool’s interest in Barcola is no secret, with reports earlier this week that the Reds have stepped up their interest in the 23-year-old, preparing an opening bid.

The France international, who helped Les Bleus reach the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, is Liverpool’s priority this summer, with Andoni Iraola already welcoming recruits Jérémy Jacquet and Víctor Muñoz to the Merseyside club earlier in the window.

Barcola is said to be open to joining Liverpool, although it remains unclear whether the Reds are willing to match PSG’s £145 million valuation.

Conflicting reports suggest the Ligue 1 side value the former Lyon man at close to £128 million, which would still represent a club-record fee should a deal be completed.

According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool will look to spend £100 million on Barcola, significantly less than PSG’s reported valuation.

Liverpool handed Bradley Barcola transfer boost

There appears to have been little in terms of updates on the negotiations in recent days. However, Liverpool may have been handed a double transfer boost.

On Friday (July 31), Dutch outlet Voetbal International reported that PSG are already looking at replacing Barcola with Ajax winger Mika Godts, appearing to suggest the completion of the 23-year-old's move to Liverpool is close.

Godts, who represents Belgium at international level, has already held talks with PSG technical director Luis Campos over a potential move to the French capital.

The 21-year-old is contracted to Ajax until 2029, with the Eredivisie side valuing him at more than £50 million.

And it’s not just PSG’s interest in Godts that appears to suggest Barcola’s Liverpool transfer is close, as the European champions have agreed a deal for Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“Breakthrough between clubs revealed here two days ago at €50m and now also green light on final details from player side,” he wrote on X.

“Medical will be next week. Akliouche will sign until June 2031.”

The 24-year-old has impressed during his time at Monaco, registering 23 goals and 28 assists in 139 appearances, drawing attention from suitors across Europe.

Romano also clarified reports that Liverpool were interested in the France international during a segment on his YouTube channel.

“We can consider Maghnes Akliouche as a new Paris Saint-Germain player,” he said.

“On this channel, we didn’t fall for the story and we saw many reporting in England.

“Many people said in England that Liverpool were negotiating for Maghnes Akliouche very clear that he wanted to go to Paris Saint-Germain. So Liverpool were never involved in this story. Not at all.

“So let me clarify one thing: Liverpool have never been mentioned for Maghnes, and Maghnes is going to be a Paris Saint-Germain player. 50 million euros.”
