An update on the future of Arne Slot has been issued after Liverpool’s crushing 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool suffered their sixth defeat in seven matches on Saturday (November 22) as Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest came away from Anfield with three points for the second time in two seasons, leaving the Premier League champions 11th in the league.

After the match, captain Virgil van Dijk called on his teammates to take responsibility for the side’s poor form as they are currently 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal, who beat North London rivals Tottenham 4-1 thanks to Eberechi Eze’s hat-trick on Sunday (November 23).

Liverpool’s summer signings, such as Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak, have failed to make the positive impact expected of them, despite fans entering the season with the expectation of retaining the title after a summer spend worth £415 million.

Meanwhile, Hugo Ekitike has impressed in patches but is in competition with Isak for the starting spot.

As ever, as the festive period approaches, the fixtures won’t relent with the Reds back in action against PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday (November 26) before they travel to West Ham on Sunday (November 30).

And if results do not improve, yet more pressure will build with questions already being asked of Slot despite him guiding the side to the Premier League title during his first season.

Following Saturday’s defeat, ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp suggested that the Merseyside club “need to be patient” rather than looking to move on from Slot despite the current run of form.

So, what is the club’s stance at the moment?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed exactly what he knows about what he described as a “dangerous” situation.

“At the moment, I don’t have any sort of information on Liverpool owners deciding to take a decision imminently," Romano explained. "So I mean now, today, tomorrow. So Liverpool are not thinking about changing the manager now.

“Obviously, they (owners) want to see a different kind of results, different kind of performances. They expect much more by Arne Slot and by this team.

“So for sure Liverpool want to see something different from the manager and from the players because this is not only Arne Slot.”

Romano then reported that Liverpool “are not in talks” with any other manager before stressing that results “need to change” in the near future.

Slot even admitted that some of the tactical changes he tried to implement against Forest "didn't work" while also maintaining that if things "go well or bad" that blame lies with himself.
