Tottenham Hotspur fans have demanded that the club sell one player in the January transfer window after their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners dominated the north London derby, and had 17 shots on goal compared to Spurs' zero in the first half.

Thomas Frank's side deployed five defenders and a low block in an attempt to nullify Arsenal's attacking threat, but the Gunners broke the deadlock on 36 minutes through Leandro Trossard.

Eberechi Eze scored his first goal of what turned out to be a hat-trick on 41 minutes, before adding his second in the first minute of the second half.

Spurs' goal came from a moment of brilliance from Richarlison, who intercepted the ball before lobbing Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya from around 40 yards out.

But that was as good as it got for the visitors, who conceded again through Eze on 76 minutes and now sit in ninth place in the Premier League table.

Spurs fans were left incensed at their team's performance and Frank's tactics, and called out one player in particular after full-time.

Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, who was a key player under previous manager Ange Postecoglou, has come in for criticism this season and fans believe he should be sold in January.

One wrote: "That should be the last time Bentancur wears the shirt for a while."

A second fumed: "[Bentancur] hides, is all over the shop positionally and has no creativity."

While a third stated: "Bentancur dragged. Genuinely terrible performance."

And a fourth wrote: "Bentancur caught out on all three goals but I'm sure he'll continue to be the first name on the team sheet in the weeks to come."

Reports have claimed that Spurs are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who is struggling for minutes at Old Trafford.

Mainoo requested to leave United on loan in the summer but his request was turned down by manager Ruben Amorim.

Speaking last month, Amorim indicated that a lack of European football this season was a major factor behind Mainoo's inability to get in the side, having previously noted he is competing with captain Bruno Fernandes for a place in the side.

"He needs more games for me to make a rotation," Amorim began. "Because with one game [a week], it's really hard. I have to take one of the guys that is playing to put another [in].

"When you have more games, you can divide, you can manage the group in a different way."
