Ryan Reynolds confirms Wrexham star's hidden cameo in Deadpool 3 trailer

A Wrexham star has broken into Hollywood.

Ryan Reynolds has effectively confirmed that a current Wrexham star made a hidden cameo in the new Deadpool 3 film.

The film, which is officially titled 'Deadpool & Wolverine', sees Reynolds reprise his role as Deadpool, while Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine.

It will release in cinemas on July 26 this year, with the cast also featuring The Crown star Emma Corrin and American comedian Rob Delaney.

You can watch the trailer below.

But there appears to be another hidden actor in the film - Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer.

The former Leyton Orient and Crawley striker joined the Red Dragons in January 2022, with the striker being one of the first marquee signings made under Reynolds and McElhenney's co-ownership.

He scored 31 goals in one-and-a-half seasons and was a key player for Wrexham in the National League.

This season, he has scored six goals and provided five assists in 38 League Two appearances.

And Wrexham fans were convinced that Palmer made a short appearance in the background of one of the shots in the new trailer.

Although Reynolds didn't officially state that Palmer was indeed in the film, the striker posted on Instagram in response to the trailer: "If you squint..."

And when Reynolds was asked by a fan whether the 32-year-old featured, he replied: "Keen eyesight."

Palmer's appearance would be the first made by a Wrexham player in a blockbuster film since Reynolds and McElhenney took over the club in 2021.

Wrexham's squad are set to travel to Las Vegas this summer to celebrate their second consecutive promotion, with Phil Parkinson's side to play in League One next season.

The Red Dragons secured promotion earlier this month after thrashing Forest Green 6-0 at the Racecourse Ground, with rivals MK Dons dropping points on the same day.

Taking to Instagram after promotion was confirmed, Reynolds wrote: "A few years ago, if you had told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney.

"Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives."
