Chelsea player drops bombshell on his future minutes after PSG loss

The star player has been a key part of Chelsea's success this season, but it appears he may finally have had enough.

Chelsea appear to be at risk of losing one of their best players following their dramatic Champions League exit after losing 8-2 to PSG.

On Tuesday night, Chelsea hosted Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge, with their chances of progressing to the next round slim.

In the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash at Parc des Princes, the London club suffered a humiliating 5-2 loss, giving them a uphill task in the second leg.

Unfortunately for Liam Rosenior's side, they couldn't stand up to the occasion, as goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu secured a 3-0 win for the visitors at Stamford Bridge.

And it appears that things may be about to get even worse for Chelsea fans, as post-match one of their star players appeared to suggest that he could leave the club in the summer.

Since the start of the 2025/26 season, few players have been more important to Chelsea's success than Enzo Fernandez, who has contributed 12 goals and assisted six this campaign.

However, after the loss to PSG, the Argentine refused to address his future at Chelsea, telling ESPN: ā€œI don’t know, there are 8 games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see."

Fernandez has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs ahead of the summer, while other reports have claimed that he is considering extending his current deal with Chelsea.

As it stands, the 25-year-old has a contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2032, and has even been reportedly considering signing an extension in recent months.

If he were to leave, it would be a massive blow to Rosenior, who has relied on his vice-captain on several occasions this season.

When asked about Fernandez's comments during his post-match press conference, Rosenior remained coy, saying: "I haven’t seen that. To be fair it’s hard for me to speak on speculation after this game. I need to focus on the more important thingā€.

Which clubs have been linked with a move for Enzo Fernandez this summer?

With Chelsea paying more than £100m to sign Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023, and his contract in place for another six years, it will cost a lot to pry him away from Stamford Bridge this season.

Because of this, only the richest clubs in the world have a chance of landing his signature, with both Real Madrid and PSG linked with a move in recent months.

However, European giants are not the only clubs said to be interested in Fernandez, as two Saudi Pro League sides are believed to have made also made contact with the player.

Although it is believed to be unlikely that the midfielder would make the move to Saudi Arabia, a massive contract could yet tempt him should he decide to leave Chelsea this summer.
