Thierry Henry laid into Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior for a moment he spotted in the Blues' 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday.

Off the back of a 5-2 defeat to European champions Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea were beaten at Stamford Bridge after Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.

The Blues, who had referee Paul Tierney gatecrash their pre-match huddle around the centre circle, were completely opened up by just a couple of passes - with Sandro Tonali playing in Joe Willock with absolute ease.

Willock then ran in behind and squared to Gordon for a simple finish. Chelsea were exposed and Arsenal legend Henry analysed the passage of play alongside Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.

The former World Cup winner noticed that as soon as Chelsea's press was bypassed, there was immediate frustration from Rosenior - who turned away after the error.

Although he's been in that position before, Henry took issue with Rosenior's actions and him specifically looking away.

Henry explained: "Here, Liam Rosenior. I've been there, you're disappointed that they allow that ball to go inside. But we're not at the training ground here where you can go, 'Let's start again'.

"There is a mistake, we all know there is a mistake. He's not coaching it on the field and unfortunately he's not even looking at what's happening... goal.

"It is not easy. I've been there on the bench. That's what they need to deal with and they didn't."

Carragher also weighed in but he pinned the blame on a number of Chelsea's defenders for allowing Newcastle to get in behind with one or two passes.

While he acknowledged that he was nowhere the level as the likes of Reece James, the Liverpool legend is adamant that he wouldn't have allowed the passage of play to happen by demanding someone react.

"In terms of Fofana, Chalobah and Reece James, they are all better players than me in almost everything - physically, height, power, pace but I would not have allowed that to happen because I would have made sure that somebody reacted," Carragher stated.

"Stop looking at your coach for instructions. You're a coach on the pitch. That was my job as a player, organising. I was like that from a kid.

"Sometimes a coach has a plan and the opposition do something different. What the coaches see from the side of the pitch is not what the players are. How can you allow that to happen?"

"We're talking about playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, costing huge fees. Reece James has been described as being the best player in his position in the world - and rightly so he's a fantastic player - but how they allow that to happen because it wasn't the plan before the game.

"There is an opposition and we all have a plan."

Chelsea return to action on Tuesday night when they host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16. The Blues trail 5-2 from the first leg in Paris.
