Liverpool fans have a theory about Moises Caicedo after what he did following the Carabao Cup final.

Liverpool beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, with Vrigil van Dijk's 118th minute winner breaking Chelsea hearts.

The victory means Liverpool are officially the most successful English club in history, and ensured that Jurgen Klopp will depart the club having won at least one trophy in his final season at Anfield.

Liverpool's win was made even more impressive by the inexperienced players they had to rely on due to injuries.

With Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez all sidelined, Klopp placed his faith in a crop of talented youngsters, and they didn't let him down.

Liverpool fans enjoyed seeing the likes of Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark celebrating after the match, but the contrasting emotions of Chelsea duo Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia also caught the eye.

Both midfielders, 22 and 20 respectively, rejected summer moves to Anfield in favour of joining Pochettino's side.

Chelsea parted with £53 million to sign Lavia from Southampton, and paid Brighton a British record fee of £115m for Caicedo.

At full-time, Caicedo - who angered Liverpool by injuring Ryan Gravenberch - looked despondent as he sat on the turf, with Lavia - not in Chelsea's matchday squad - walking onto the pitch to console him.

Caicedo has failed to live up to his price tag at Stamford Bridge, and after the match, Liverpool fans suggested he would have been better off joining their side instead of Chelsea.

"Good coach makes the difference. Caicedo would have cooked better under Klopp," one fan posted on X.

Another fan suggested: "Caicedo would be a lot better under Klopp and with [Alexis] Mac Allister in there with him, but he's burnt that bridge."

More fans suggested Caicedo's decision to work with Pochettino over Klopp was a bad one.

"He would definitely become a better player. Pochettino sucks, Klopp knows how to get the best out of players and Caicedo needs development," one fan wrote.

However, many Liverpool fans aren't bothered that Caicedo snubbed their side.

"Caicedo would most likely have looked much better in a Klopp LFC team," another supporter said, "but he still would have been bad value at £100m+. Same with Lavia and his silly price tag also."
