Punter wins bet of the season after Chelsea's dramatic comeback against Real Betis in Conference League final

Enzo Maresca's side fought back to become the team to win all three European trophies on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea’s Conference League triumph saw a punter pocket an eye-watering amount of cash.

Chelsea fought back from 1-0 down to win 4-1 against Real Betis in Wroclaw, Poland and in doing so became the first club to win all three European trophies – Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

Cole Palmer played a leading role in his side’s victory with two assists, while Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moises Caceido all got on the scoresheet.

After the game, Enzo Maresca was visibly pleased with his side’s performance.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Maresca said: “Also, I expected a little bit, the happiness was a bit too much after Nottingham Forest because you go all season waiting and waiting [to achieve Champions League]. So we struggled a bit first half, second half we were much better, and now we are very happy.”

He added: "I am very proud and very happy for many reasons. Personally I feel good, but also the fans they deserve that, they have been waiting a few years for that, so they deserve it.

"The club have invested a lot of money in the last two, three years so they are also waiting for results. Hopefully, this can be a starting point. From tonight, from this season, building something important."

However, the happiest person of all may have been one lucky punter who pocketed a fortune with arguably the bet of the season.

Martin Mackay saw his seven-fold accumulator come in, and he won £17,397.62 from a stake of just £3.

He backed Napoli, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and PSG to win their domestic leagues, which they all did.

Mackay also backed Spurs to win the Europa League and Chelsea to win the Conference League.

Ahead of the game, Mackay could've cashed out for £11,598.42 but stood firm and reaped the rewards.

Fans had their say on social media.

One said: "£3 stake and was offered 11k and turned it down for an extra six... madness."

Another added: "Take it and keep it. Spend it on whatever you want, just not on a betting site."

A third commented: "Martin Mackay please let us all know if they pay out."
