His transfer value has plummeted.

One Chelsea star has seen his transfer value plummet since joining the club.

Chelsea have spent over €1billion (£860million) in the three full windows since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the club from Roman Abramovic in May 2022.

Last summer’s transfer deadline day saw Cole Palmer become the 25th player to join Chelsea since Boehly took the reins as the club’s co-controlling owner, signing for what now appears like a bargain £42.5million from Manchester City.

Since the American’s arrival the Blues have broken the British transfer record twice, spending £115milliion on Moises Caicedo months after coughing up £106.8million for Enzo Fernandez.

Caicedo was hot property last summer, having also been the subject of a British record bid from Liverpool.

However, the Ecuador international has struggled to emulate his Brighton form in west London thus far, which has seen his value plummet.

According to the CIES Football Observatory Caicedo is now worth €77.8million (£67.11million), almost half the amount Chelsea paid for the player’s services months earlier.

Caicedo’s relative struggles at Stamford Bridge have seen the player have one-to-one meetings with manager Mauricio Pochettino to get to the root of the problem.

The 22-year-old’s progress hasn't been helped by the fact that he frequently has to travel to South America for international duty, while he has also contended with a knee problem.

Nevertheless, Caicedo’s struggles prompted Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to seemingly have a pop at the player, suggesting Liverpool dodged a bullet.

“The summer we had a few strange things happen in the transfer market but here, between us, I can say, ‘My god, were we lucky, eh?’”, Klopp said, in a press conference months ago.

“We didn’t know that in that moment and it didn’t feel like it in that moment, but yeah, I’m really happy that it worked out, but you never know before.”

“We obviously realised that other central defensive midfielders don’t want to join Liverpool, you see what happens, and then we found [Wataru] Endo. He’s an exceptional player.”
