Chelsea fans convinced club's legends XI WOULD beat their current side

Chelsea fans are convinced the club's legends XI that played against Bayern Munich WOULD beat their current side.

Chelsea and Bayern played a legends match at Stamford Bridge in memory of Gianluca Vialli and to celebrate the Premier League side's Champions League triumph in 2012.

The Blues won the showdown 4-0 thanks to goals from Michael Essien, John Terry, Gary Cahill and Tiago.

The Chelsea legends XI, which was managed by Roberto Di Matteo, featured the likes of Petr Cech, Ramires, Solomon Kalou and Florent Malouda.

Before the game kicked off, X user @CFCDUBois claimed that the legends team could beat the club's current side.

"This team could actually beat our current one and I’m being dead serious," the social media user posted, accompanied with a picture of the Chelsea legends line-up.

And it proved to be a popular opinion as Chelsea fans online weighed in, hilariously agreeing with the claim.

One X user wrote: "Get Lamps and Drogba in there and that team finishes higher than Luton."

A second commented: "I love how on-point this tweet is. The only appropriate response is to use the laugh-crying emoji."

A third joked: "Essien and Mikel will run riot on Enzo and Caicedo and won’t break a sweat!"

A fourth said: "Ramires and Essien against Caicedo they gonna have a field day."

Another added: "Would not 'could'."

They've won Premier League titles and the Champions League between them, with the current XI enduring a difficult period.

Chelsea, who finished in 12th place last season, find themselves in the same position this campaign, having already lost two of their opening four games.

Mauricio Pochettino has overseen defeats against West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, who secured a shock 1-0 win before the international break.

Does their legends XI beat their current outfit? Let us know what you think.
