Ruben Amorim is reportedly preparing a surprise move to rival Manchester City for the signing of a top Premier League star.
After a 14-month tenure, Amorim was sacked by Manchester United on January 6 this year following a disappointing run of results and a public fallout with the club's hierarchy.
Rather than take a break from the spotlight following his dismissal, the Portuguese manager decided to jump right back into another high-profile job as he was appointed coach of Italian giants AC Milan in June.
Amorim has penned a three-year deal with AC Milan, replacing Massimiliano Allegri following his sacking after a season that the club's hierarchy described as an "unequivocal failure".

And now it appears he's preparing to make another big transfer call ahead of his first season as Milan manager, as he's looking to bring an exciting Premier League forward to the club.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, Amorim signed Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a club record fee of more than €70million (£60m) and now it's been reported that the striker's Portugal teammate Pedro Neto is his next target.
As reported by The Sun, the Rossoneri are keen on signing the Chelsea winger, who currently sits atop their transfer wishlist ahead of the window closing on September 1.
Amid reports that Rafael Leao will likely leave the San Siro this summer, it is believed that the club view Neto as the perfect replacement for their star winger.
However, a move for the 26-year-old certainly won't be cheap, with Chelsea reportedly demanding €70million (£60m), the same club record fee paid for Ramos, to let Neto go this summer.
But, following Chelsea's British transfer record breaking signing of Morgan Rogers earlier in the window, it is believed that this fee could come down should it become clear that the London club need to make a big sale before the window closes.
With that in mind, AC Milan aren't the only club interested in signing Neto this summer, as Manchester City are also said to be exploring a potential move for the Chelsea star in the coming weeks.
Second Premier League club ready to hijack Manchester City's move for Pedro Neto
City's move for Neto reportedly is tied to the future of Savinho, who has been linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer following a disappointing spell with City.
As it stands, Tottenham Hotspur is the most likely destination for the Brazilian winger should he decide to leave City ahead of his contract expiring in 2031, the same year as Neto's deal with Chelsea.
But, according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs would consider hijacking City’s move for Neto if their own pursuit of Savinho falls through.
Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo is another name believed to be high up on Spurs' list of potential new wingers this summer, but any deal hinges on the financial package offered and Liverpool's pusuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
